Nutritional Nugget: Oatmeal

The benefits of oatmeal are amazing!  Oats are a great source of carbs and fiber, including beta-glucan, a powerful fiber.  Oats also contain more protein and fat than most grains.

Oats are loaded with important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant plant compounds.  A half a cup of oats contains Manganese, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Copper, Iron, Zinc, Folate, Vitamin B1 and B5.   

Oatmeal also contains avenanthramides, which may lower blood pressure.  It also can help you lose weight, lower cholesterol, shield your skin (check your label on your skin creams), stabilize blood sugar, and it could also help you sleep when having a bowl at night.
